I woke out of a deep sleep to find my house a-rockin this morning at about 4:44. I had to wake the other person in the bed to make sure I wasn’t dreaming. I went back to sleep after the 5-7 seconds of shaking and then got up this morning and confirmed it through CNN.

People nearly 900 miles away felt a magnitude-5.2 earthquake that shook southern Illinois early Friday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey…

There were no immediate reports of major damage after the predawn quake, which struck at 4:36 a.m. (5:36 a.m. ET)….

The epicenter of the earthquake — the strongest in the region in 40 years — was about seven miles below ground and 38 miles north-northwest of Evansville, Indiana, the USGS said.

I have my first saxophone lesson next Wednesday and I hope to be playing Careless Whisper in no time. I called the shop today and my conversation was this:

Me: Uhh.. yeah. Do you guys give Saxophone lessons?
Him: Yes we do. Are you a student?
Me: No. I’m 28.
Him: Oh, are you new, skilled… what is your level of experience?
Me: None. As a matter of fact, I woke up today and said, “Ya know, I think I’m going to buy a sax and take some lessons.”
Him: Okay. Well. We can definitely teach you. I have private lessons for next Wednesday open.

So… yeah. I hope to be able to post a YouTube video of me playing Careless Whisper pretty soon. In the meantime, enjoy:
